1 of only 4 Right Hand Drive (RHD) Speedster's ever made.
Porsche's immortal Speedster was born out of the vision of North-American importer Max Hoffman, legendary for bringing open-top European sports cars to the burgeoning US Market. Based on the early American Roadsters bodied by Erich Heuer's Glaser Karosserie, the Speedster took shape with Hoffman's realisation, that a mid-market gap existed for a no-frills race ready convertible. Reutter smoothed over the American's original bodywork, to result in a famous aerodynamic high-waisted bathtub style, which eventually proved to be one of Porsche's most celebrated designs of all time.
This Porsche 356A Speedster completed in 1958 is an original extremely rare factory right-hand drive example. Only 4 Speedsters believed to have left Stuttgart with this configuration.
Having spent almost all its life in the dry Australian climate, this perfect example undertook a three years “nut and bolt” restoration by a prominent Porsche specialist in Victoria State. A full photographic history of the rebuild work completed is included in the file. Finished in its original colours Stone Grey ( 5710A ) with Red interior the condition of the car is exceptional. Also, presents are the side curtains and a hard-top. This wonderfully presented Speedster is sure to attract the attention of any Zuffenhausen enthusiast. It is eminently suitable for both spirited open-air motoring and vintage Competition events or club meets.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire the rarest Speedster of all, the RHD version.
